I generally make it a rule not to report on non-anglophone events (as I little enough time to write about those) but here is one I couldn't resist giving mention to. The organisers of the Locarno International Film Festival, in collaboration with Italy's National Cinema Museum have organised a festival of Japanese animation, to be presented in both Locarno and Torino, which includes – among others – a programme of ÔFUJI Noburô's films, Mushi Production's Cleopatra and Kanashimi no Belladonna and KAWAMOTO Kihachirô's Shisha no Sho. The downside? That it is clearly a festival of anime, yet it is called, seemingly senselessly (unless this is some Japanese-English-Italian pun) Manga Impact.
