More Kirikou – Now in Book Form

The Blu-ray Discs of Kirikou et la sorcière, Kirikou et les bêtes sauvages and Kirikou et Karaba went on sale today and, most unfortunately, it looks like every one is region locked and lacking in English subtitles. Azur et Asmar will also get a Blu-ray release in France — on 27 November 2008 — according to Hi-Def Release Lists; the videography pages have been updated with what info I can find. On a somewhat more positive note, it appears that Monsieur Ocelot has authored two new "Memories of Kirikou" stories – Kirikou et le collier de la discorde (Kirikou and the Necklace of Discord), in which the village women fall out over a gold necklace, and Kirikou et les ombres (Kirikou and the Shadows), in which the children make dolls and use them to put on a shadow play. But rather than, as before, waiting for them to be made into a film along with other stories, these are going straight into being published as picture books on 4 September 2008.
