This news comes a little late – I'm sorry, but due dates for uni work are not up to me – and the formatting and spelling may be less than perfect as I'm having to use someone else 's computer if I'm to get this news to you before it's even more obsolete.
But getting to the point, the Sky Arts channel in the UK is currently in the midst of a season on animation. At the moment it seems to focusing on "animated soviet propaganda," which I find an annoyingly sensationalistic excuse to show some short films – even including Norstein's Skazka skazok under this banner. However, tomorrow afternoon, they are also to show three of Reiniger's short fairy tale films. One of these consists mostly of reused footage from Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed, but the preceding two are only seen in brief clips in the documentary included on the DVD.
Oh, and a little aside (and compensation for those without Sky or outside the UK) – have a peek at these storyboards for Disney's Sleeping Beauty (recently discovered in Japan) and the 1973 Russian film Detstvo Ratibora – here and here.
